Co-founder, Mamaearth
Varun Alagh, born in 1984, is a first-generation entrepreneur who transformed India's personal care industry through innovation and purpose-driven practices. An engineer from Delhi College of Engineering with an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, Alagh spent nearly a decade at multinational FMCG giants including Hindustan Unilever, Diageo, and Coca-Cola, managing iconic brands like Rexona, Smirnoff, and Coca-Cola across India and South Asia.
In November 2016, when Varun and his wife Ghazal couldn't find toxin-free products for their son Agastya, who was diagnosed with eczema, they founded Honasa Consumer and launched Mamaearth, Asia's first MadeSafe-certified brand. Under Varun's leadership, Mamaearth expanded to over 140 products, achieved unicorn status in 2021, and launched a historic IPO in 2023. The company reported revenues exceeding ₹964 crore in FY22 with 109% year-over-year growth. Varun's net worth stands at approximately $14.40 million. Through Mamaearth's Plant Goodness initiative, the company planted over 3 million trees, demonstrating commitment to environmental sustainability alongside business success.
