Maini's progression has demanded more than speed. It has asked for adaptability and resilience in a sport where every seat is contested and every opportunity has to be earned. From karting and Formula 4 to Formula 3 and Formula 2, he has climbed one category, one race and one opportunity at a time. His maiden Formula 2 victory came in Hungary in 2024. Alpine then added him to its Reserve Driver roster. A reserve driver waits for a call that may or may not come, and has to be ready on the day it does. That takes a particular kind of patience. In March 2026, a ROTORIS timepiece reached the Formula 1 grid
Maini became the first Indian driver to bring a ROTORIS timepiece onto the Formula 1 grid. He wore the Astonia Sports Chronograph in the Melbourne paddock. A chronograph is an instrument for measuring short stretches of time, and it sits naturally on the wrist of someone whose sport is decided in fractions of a second. The watch and the driver share a preoccupation with time. It is a fitting first for an Indian driver at that level. The moment carried a small piece of history for the brand and for Maini himself.
