Olympic Trap Shooter
Peter Robert Russell Wilson MBE, born 15 September 1986 in Dorset, is a former English sport shooter specialising in double trap. He took up shooting after a snowboarding injury ended his participation in other sports, rapidly rising to become the 2006 European Junior Champion within months of starting.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Wilson delivered a standout performance, winning gold with a score of 188, marking Britainās first Olympic shooting medal since 2000. Earlier that year, he also set a world record of 198 out of 200 at a World Cup in Arizona, making him the youngest shooter at the time to achieve that score.
Despite facing funding cuts and self-financing his training, Wilson persevered. Awarded an MBE in 2013, he retired in 2014, later transitioning into coaching.
