Clas Wulff

A Rotoris Man

Classically Trained Perfumer

Clas Wulff is a classically trained perfumer with a career rooted in the old world of haute parfumerie and a reputation built on challenging how the fragrance industry operates, creates, and communicates.

His formal journey began between 1985 and 1990 at the renowned Perfumery School in Geneva, where he was trained in traditional French perfumery—raw materials, structure, balance, and the discipline of formula mastery. This foundation would later allow him not only to create successful fragrances, but to question and re-engineer the systems behind them.

Following his studies, Clas joined Symrise in Paris as a Junior Perfumer, where he spent two intensive years refining his technical skill and creative confidence. During this period, he mastered the iconic formula of Nino Cerruti 1881, a milestone that marked his transition to Senior Perfumer—an unusually rapid progression that reflected both technical command and creative intuition.

In 1996, Clas was invited to join a bold new venture: Fragrance Resources, a company founded on a radical idea for its time—bringing the world's top perfumery talent under one roof, free from rigid corporate silos. What followed was an eleven-year period of intense creativity and collaboration.

At Fragrance Resources, Clas worked alongside true legends of modern perfumery, including Pierre Bourdon, Christine Nagel (now in-house perfumer at Hermès), and Tom Virtue. This environment—competitive, creative, and uncompromising—shaped Clas's belief that great fragrance is born where craft meets courage.

During this time, he contributed to the creation of globally successful fragrances across prestige and mass-luxury, including Cool Water Women, Dolce Vita, Paris Hilton, Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely, Naomi Campbell, Escada, Lacoste White, and Montblanc.

Over time, Clas became increasingly known not just for the fragrances he created, but for questioning why the industry worked the way it did—why innovation was slow, why storytelling was diluted, and why perfumers were often invisible behind brands.

Today, Clas Wulff stands at the intersection of heritage craftsmanship and modern disruption—a perfumer who understands the rules deeply enough to break them intelligently, reshaping fragrance creation for a new generation of brands and consumers.
